Description

The Danusa-Scära snowshoe tour is a frequently traveled variation that also offers enough space to avoid others. The route goes through the gently hilly landscape of the Furnerberg and offers new panoramas again and again. At one point, you can see across the Prättigau with the Rätikon mountain range and soon after the view over the Rhine Valley to Lake Walen with the Churfirsten.

Insider tips

Additional loop to Scäraegg - the panorama is wonderful.

Safety notice

The route is not signposted and goes through open terrain. Map skills are required. Not secured against alpine hazards; snow and weather conditions must be checked. For tours off marked and signposted areas, it is generally recommended to carry safety equipment. Caution is advised in case of significant avalanche danger; this tour is not recommended if there is a high or very high avalanche risk.

Equipment

A good and functional snowshoe equipment with sturdy footwear is the basis of every snowshoe tour.

Directions

The route initially follows the signposted Danusa circular route to Alp Rona and then continues a few hundred meters further. As soon as the signposted route branches off to the left towards Höhbord, you continue straight ahead. In an elongated right curve, you now reach Scära at a consistently steady altitude (+/- about 50 m). Upon arriving in the Scära area, a detour over Scäraegg is worthwhile, where you are rewarded with a panoramic view. Return to Danusa via the same route as the outward journey.

Optionally, you can also choose the signposted route via Höhbord to the Danusa chairlift valley station.

Directions

Public Transport

By the Rhaetian Railway RhB to Schiers (timetable field 910) and the PostBus to Furna (timetable field 90.220).

Travel Information

Via the A13 and the A28 to Pragg-Jenaz. Follow signs to Furna.

Parking

If you arrive via Grüsch, you can park your car at the valley station of the Grüsch Danusa cable car. If you come from Furna, you can park your car at the end of Danusastrasse near Adamsgaden and walk over the Furner winter hiking trail and then the cross-country skiing track up to Bünda. Then continue according to the directions.
