Alp Larein

The Kuhalp Larein is occupied by the Alp- und Sennereigenossenschaft Jenaz with about 80 dairy cows. In the summer months, in addition to approx. 3,800kg of alpine cheese, alpine butter and Ziger are also produced. To reach Alp Larein, cross the Walser village of Jenaz in a northerly direction and follow the village road to the junction Kuhgasse/Oberwinkel/Dursch. From here follow the trail signs to Alp Larein, the ascent leads through many forest sections (Litziwald, Mittelwald, Schlegelwald). At Schlegel turn right and follow the path uphill, after about 3 hours walk you finally reach the Untersäss of Alp Larein. For the way back, either choose the same route or turn right through the Oberwald and the Lerchwald downhill to Jenaz.
